Fancy Nancy Birthday Tea Soiree (Abigayle's 7th Birthday)

As soon as I read the "Fancy Nancy" book with my daughter I thought now that would make a great theme for a little girl's birthday party. So I then persuaded my daughter to have a Fancy Nancy party for her next birthday. Now I thought about it and I thought Fancy Nancy would love a Tea Party and I know my daughter would love a Tea party and let's face I would love a Tea party sooo...we had a Fancy Nancy Tea Soiree (that's a fancy way of saying party).

The Invitations:
I wanted to make the invitations as magical and sparkly as the party was going to be and here is what I came up with. I made up an invitation on my computer and had them printed up on 4x6 photo paper. Then I bought some purple card stock and mounted the photo paper on the card stock. Then I embellished them with pretty ribbons. Michael's was having a sale on their Christmas ribbons, 50% off. What a deal!
The Decorations:
Fancy Nancy was drawn by hand by me and then haind painted on a big piece of cardboard and then cut out. I drew the butterflies and Boutique sign on poster board then painted them and cut them out. I took the mirror out of my daughter's room and made a little dress up station for the girls (Fashion Boutique). I bought feather boas, bead necklaces, silk gloves and sun hats for each little girl to wear. The girls then got to take home the accessories as their party favors.
I found these glittered plumes (that's a fancy way of saying feathers) at Michael's in their Christmas section for 50% off.
I got a wood frame at Michael's for a dollar painted it purple and embellished it with ribbon made into a bow. I scanned the Fancy Nancy picture form one of the books and then added the wording on my computer and printed it out on photo paper and put it in the frame.
Here the girls are all dolled up in their fashion accessories for "Fancy Nancy's Fabulous Fashion Boutique".
Here is the table. I put a pink plastic table cloth on it and then put a lace tablecloth on top (got the lace tablecloth at Big Lots for $5. Then I made ribbon roses and sewed 2 to each corner of the lace tablecloth (sooo Fancy!).
I got some silk flowers at the dollar tree but I thought these are not fancy enough so I painted some glue on the edges of them and then sprinkled glitter on them (much fancier!) I bought some mismatched glasses at the dollar store a couple of years ago and thought those would be perfect to put the sprinkles and marshmallows in for the parfaits (parfait is french for ice cream sundae, everything is fancier in french) we would have at the party.

I made tissue paper balls to hang above the table. I also made butterfly garland out out card stock and fishing line.
I found the teacups and saucers at Goodwill. I also had family members who bought me some pretty tea pots at Goodwill. The girls were so fancy drinking out of porcelain teacups.
My Fancy little girl.
I had Greeting card paper lying around in my house for years now and decided one day that it would be perfect to make place cards for the kids.
Here is what the boys place cards looked like (that is Fancy Nancy's dad).
And here are the girl's. Each girl had a different image of Fancy Nancy. Again I made these up on my computer and then printed them on the greeting card paper.

Here is a close up of my fancy silk flowers embellished with glitter.
This picture was on the table the girls ate at, it says Bon Appetite (That's french for enjoy! Everything's fancier in french!)
I made this sign to encourage guests to take home sweets with them. I had it setting next to all the cookies and candy with white lunch bags next to it.
I stayed up until 12:30 am the night before the party making all these cookies from scratch. Hey it's a tea party, you gotta have fancy little cookies. I made shortbread cookies with blackberry jam, meringues, macarons & Russian tea cakes.
I got the idea for the cupcake picks from another blog. I don't have a Cricut machine so I printed out the shape on card stock and then sat there and cut out 96 little flower shaped papers. It took forever but I think the result was well worth it.
